CHD Consultants for Health and Development is an international consulting group, specializing in public health and development. CHD offers its services to governments, non governmental organizations, bilateral and international organizations, and financing agencies such as the Development Banks, the European Union, and the Global Fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.
CHD was established in the early 1990s, with the aim of making available expertise needed to carry out planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and research in developmental programmes, principally in the area of health. CHD consultants undertake short and medium term missions covering policy development and operational issues. Long term support to public health projects, i.E. Design, monitoring, implementation and evaluation can also be provided. CHD's central office is located in Leiden, The Netherlands.
CHD can draw on a large computerized database of consultants working in the area of health and development. All CHD consultants combine practical field experience with a high level training using modern principles of management of public health.

Unique is CHD's vast experience with essential drug programmes in many countries. Nearly all aspects of essential drugs are handled on a continuous basis :- assisting governments with formulation of national drug policies, and related implementation plans; backstopping, training and consultancy support of essential drug programmes; monitoring and evaluation of essential drugs programmes; improving rational use of drugs; selecting essential drugs; developing standard treatment guidelines; quantifying drug needs; streamlining procurement and tendering procedures; storage and distribution of drugs; expert analyses of requests for drugs to donors. Our Project :- Specific assistance provided by CHD consultants in the past can be categorised as follows :- Global Fund, Health sector reform related, Programme backstopping and/or coordination, Programme identifications, Programme monitoring, Mid-term and final programme reviews or sector evaluations, Focussed programme reviews or problem solving reviews, Drafting workshops, Training workshops.
